Cork Chamber selected as a finalist for the 2015 World Chambers Competition

Cork Chamber is delighted to have been selected as a FINALIST in the category “Best advocacy project” at the 2015 World Chambers Competition for our policy and lobbying work on Tier-1 International Connectivity.
A record number of 79 applications from 39 countries were received for the 2015 World Chambers Competition and the full list of finalists in this category are: - Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Australia)
- Santiago Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chile)
- Cork Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( Ireland)
- Dublin Chamber of Commerce (Ireland)
Cork Chamber will join the other finalists in front of a panel of international judges for a live presentation at the 9th World Chambers Congress in Torino, Italy on the 10th-12th June 2015 and the winner will be announced at the event. |

The Enterprise Europe Network is hosting an informative workshop on the ISO 50001 Energy Management System in association with Energia. Using energy efficiently helps organisations to save money as well as helping to conserve resources and tackle climate change. Have Your Say on the City Centre Movement Strategy Consultation

On the 10th April Cork Chamber attended a stakeholder meeting as part of the City Centre Movement Strategy Consultation organised by Cork City Council. At this meeting presentations were made by Arup on the Phase 1 and 2 developments of this 5 phase strategy. The first two phases include works to facilitate enhanced movement of traffic around the Washington street/Greenville Place/Batcher’s Quay areas and also introduce a restriction of vehicles using St Patrick’s Street with the exception of busses and taxis at certain times of the day. Information and drawings for the scheme will be available at the reception of the Cork City Council building as part of the public consultation. Cork Chamber will be making a submission on behalf of our members in advance of the submission deadline of the 5th of June. If you would like to contribute to the Chamber’s submission please send any feedback on the City Centre Movement Strategy to Claire before COB, Monday 18th May.

Fast Track to Innovation pilot programme
The European Commission’s Fast Track to Innovation (FTI) pilot programme provides funding to businesses for “close-to-market” innovation projects in any area of technology or application. The FTI Pilot will be implemented in 2015-2016 as a new initiative under Horizon 2020 and has a budget of €200 million. The aim of the programme is to: • reduce time from idea to market • stimulate the participation of first-time applicants (including SMEs) to apply for EU research funding • increase private sector investment in research and innovation
