A busy week here at Cork Chamber with close to 1,000 people due to attend our Annual Dinner taking place Friday night in City Hall. Congratulations and good luck to all finalists in Cork Company of the Year Awards. Winners will be announced on the night. Cork Chamber’s Business Breakfast series in association with the Irish Examiner will kick off on Tues 12th February 2013, with guest speaker Terry Clune, winner of the 2009 E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year Award and the 2010 HSBC European Entrepreneur Award. 

Terry Clune founded Taxback.com and most recently developed and financed ConnectIreland.com, an Irish government supported incentive referral programme to create new jobs in Ireland.

This is a perfect occasion to network with Cork Chamber members as well as hearing Terry's story of entrepreneurship and enterprise.

Policy
Cork County Development Plan

The Policy Department has attended a consultation on a review of the Cork County Development Plan.  The County Development plan adopted in 2009 will expire in 2015 and in order to ensure that the new plan is reflective of the requirements of the County, the County Council has commence a formal statutory review process.

EU Missions for Growth: Focus on Greece
 

The Enterprise Europe Network Hellenic Consortium will hold a B2B Networking Event in Athens from March 11-12, as part of the Europe 2020 Strategy for Growth. The goal of this event is to promote business partnerships between multi-sector Greek and European companies.

The event will also provide opportunities for enterprises who wish to reach the Greek market and key players therein to examine business and investment opportunities in Greece and establish cross-border contacts. The event will be conducted in English and entry will be free-of-charge. In order to participate in this event, registration will need to be completed on or before 18 February. Engaging with Family Businesses and Community & Voluntary Groups through the Student Work Placement Process

The results of UCC's Beyond Big Business for Student Work Placement project will be examined, including an overview of the results of surveys issued to both placement practitioners and employer organisations in mid-2012.
