Engaging with Family Businesses and Community & Voluntary Groups through the Student Work Placement Process

The purpose of this seminar is to provide a forum for work placement practitioners, and representatives from family businesses and community and voluntary groups, to examine the opportunities and challenges for Irish higher education institutions in engaging with these organisations through the student work placement process. The results of UCC's Beyond Big Business for Student Work Placement project will be examined, including an overview of the results of surveys issued to both placement practitioners and employer organisations in mid-2012. Representatives from key stakeholder groups will be invited to present their experiences of work placement, including placement practitioners, students and staff from family businesses and community and voluntary organisations. There will also be an opportunity for a general discussion on this topic among all seminar attendees.
