Cork Chamber Calls for Accelerated Progress on Flood Relief Schemes

Both regionally and nationwide, the country has once again been impacted beyond expectation by repeated flood events. Cork Chamber CEO, Conor Healy, in commenting on the situation has called for "accelerated progress in realising proactive long-term flood relief systems around the city and county". Cork Chamber has again reiterated the urgent need for the commencement of work on the various flood relief schemes around Cork city and region and have corresponded with the office of Minister Harris, Minister of State with Special Responsibility for the Office of Public Works on a number of occasions during 2015 emphasising the criticality of hastening progress on schemes such as the Lower Lee (cork City) Flood Relief Scheme.

Cork Chamber contends that it is absolutely crucial that renewed drive and momentum must be focused on the implementation of proactive works to combat the repeat of such events into the future.
