Meet the Finalists
After a rigorous judging process over the past couple of months, we are delighted to showcase the finalists in the Emerging Category of Cork Company of the Year Awards. Over the coming three weeks the finalists in each category will be announced in the Irish Examiner. Winners will then be revealed at the Cork Chamber Annual Dinner on Friday February 5th, where 1000 business people will attend the biggest business event of the year!

Cork Chamber Calls for Accelerated Progress on Flood Relief Schemes
Both regionally and nationwide, the country has once again been impacted beyond expectation by repeated flood events. Cork Chamber CEO, Conor Healy, in commenting on the situation has called for "accelerated progress in realising proactive long-term flood relief systems around the city and county". Cork Chamber has again reiterated the urgent need for the commencement of work on the various flood relief schemes around Cork city and region and have corresponded with the office of Minister Harris, Minister of State with Special Responsibility for the Office of Public Works on a number of occasions during 2015 emphasising the criticality of hastening progress on schemes such as the Lower Lee (cork City) Flood Relief Scheme.
Cork Chamber contends that it is absolutely crucial that renewed drive and momentum must be focused on the implementation of proactive works to combat the repeat of such events into the future.

European funding available for ‘Human Resources Training Programme – Japan Industry Insight'
9th May until 3rd June 2016, Tokyo, Japan The EU Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation is currently calling for applications for the next mission to Japan, the 52nd ‘Human Resources Training Programme – Japan Industry Insight’, a training programme financed by the European Commission. This 4/5 week programme will provide EU companies with the opportunity to understand Japanese industrial structure and business practices.

A section of the South Ring Road (N40) between Dunkettle Interchange and Mahon Interchange, including the Jack Lynch Tunnel & Tunnel Management Building /Little Island access road will be closed to normal traffic overnight for three successive nights as follows: - 21:00 hrs on Tuesday 26th January 2016 until 05:30 hrs on Wednesday 27th January 2016
- 21:00 hrs on Wednesday 27th January 2016 until 05:30 hrs on Thursday 28th October 2016
- 21:00 hrs on Thursday 28th January 2016 until 05:30 hrs on Friday 29th January 2016
These closures are necessary to facilitate scheduled routine maintenance on the tunnel and its equipment.
