Cork Group Makes Vital Connections at
Food Industry Event in London
A collaboration between several Cork stakeholders, including Cork Chamber, UCC, CIT and Carbery Group, will see Cork represented at ‘Food Matters Live’ in London this week. The event, which looks at the connections and relationship between food and drink, health, nutrition and sustainability, is expected to see over 12,000 attendees over 3 days and features over 400 speakers from all areas of the industry, across food science, manufacturing, retail and food service together with government and those involved in public health. The Cork group will highlight the strengths and expertise that exists in Cork across all areas of the food & drink industry, from manufacturing and production, to the world class R&D activities and education and training resources for the sector that are on offer in UCC and CIT.

Continuous Fall in Unemployment
New figures from the CSO show a continuous fall in unemployment to 9.1% in the third quarter of this year. By end October, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 8.9% (down from the previously reported 9.3%) marking the lowest unemployment rate since December 2008. Compared to 2014, 56,000 more people were in employment in the period July-September this year. For further information click here.

UCC seeks to recruit 40 people to share their views on how they would like Ireland and Europe to develop over the next 20-30 years. In December 2015 and January 2016 over a 1,000 people around Europe will meet to articulate their vision for the future of their country and Europe. The consultation in Ireland will be held on the UCC main campus from 9.00am to 4.30pm on Friday 4th December. Refreshments and lunch will be served during the day and a gift voucher given to those involved.
