Cork - Boston Success Wins Best Public Affairs Campaign Award
Our work, on behalf of members, for successfully delivering transatlantic connectivity from Cork to Boston has resulted in Cork Chamber winning an award for Best Public Affairs Campaign at the PRII 2017 Awards for Excellence in Public Relations.
Direct connectivity across the Atlantic has repeatedly featured top in surveys of member’s most desired air routes. At the same time, it has long been the strategic aim of Cork Airport to become a transatlantic airport. Last year, the Chamber team was therefore pleased to join forces with Cork Airport, the Irish Aviation Authority, our elected representatives and local stakeholders in lobbying the US Department of Transportation to allow Norwegian begin direct flights from Cork to Boston with a successful outcome for consumers and businesses on both sides of the Atlantic. In awarding our joint campaign, the judges commented: “The winning Public Affairs programme had a clear, single, objective. And, delivering on it, required the skilful, development of alliances, and strong messaging, among local, national, European and transatlantic stakeholders. This was a complex, thoughtful, multi- layered campaign which galvanised a vocal and cohesive lobby. And ‘landed’ a great public affairs outcome.” Read more about our work on delivering this project here
