Exciting new Cork to London City Airport
Cityjet route announced


Cork Chamber is delighted with today’s announcement by Cityjet of their new Cork to London City Airport route.


Commenting on this announcement, Cork Chamber President, Barrie O’Connell, stated that “the launch of this new route option to London will further enhance the regions connectivity and strengthen the breadth of connectivity options available to and from Cork and the entire southern region. This new route will give business and tourist travellers the opportunity for increased access to and from the very centrally located London City Airport”.


Cork Chamber through engagement with Cork Airport highlighted the demand by Cork businesses for the addition of this route which was indicated via previous air travel demand surveys conducted by the Chamber.

Local Economic and Community Plan Information Session
 

Date: 3rd July

Cork County Council is currently developing the Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP). The purpose of the LECP, as provided for in the Local Government Reform Act 2014, is to set out, for a six-year period, the objectives and actions needed to promote and support the economic development and the local and community development of the County in partnership with economic and community development stakeholders in the region.


Public Consultation workshops and a call for written submission of which the Chamber will contribute to are currently taking place. To inform this submission Cork Chamber is organising an information session for interested Chamber members which will be delivered by Pio Condon, Senior Executive Planner, Cork County Council with Andrew Hind, Senior Planner, Cork County Council also in attendance.

Enterprise Europe Network At Cork Chamber
 

Horizon 2020 Industry Leadership Pillar Information Day, 28th July 2015, UCC, Cork

The National Contact Points (NCPs) in Ireland for Horizon 2020 will introduce the Horizon 2020 funding opportunities for the upcoming 2016/2017 call. The morning session  will cover the sub programmes covered will be ICT, Nanotechnology, Advanced Materials, Advanced Manufacturing, Biotechnology, Space, SME Instrument and Fast Track Innovation Pilot.

Meanwhile there will be the opportunity for 1:1 meetings with the NCPs on the Horizon 2020 programme in the afternoon session.

 

Hosts wanted for Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs

Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs is an exchange programme for entrepreneurs and it is financed by the European Union. In Cork, the programme is run by the Rubicon Centre and they currently require host companies for young entrepreneurs. The programme offers hosts is an opportunity to learn, create successful partnerships with new entrepreneurs, and share expertise. As the person hosted by your company gets a grant, there is no charge to your company.
