M20 Cork to Limerick would have Game-Changing Impact
A new report by Indecon/RED C commissioned by Cork and Limerick Chambers endorses the M20 as an enabler of the Atlantic Economic Corridor consisting of a powerful three-city region comprising Cork, Limerick and Galway.
The Chambers stated the development of the M20 would see a continuous motorway from Cork all the way to Limerick through to Galway, creating an economic corridor that would provide a strong complement to Dublin.
Among the top findings in the report is that the motorway would have the potential to support an estimated additional 4,000-5,400 direct jobs in the region, with a gross annual impact of €128m to the Exchequer.The report also confirms that the existing N20 between Cork and Limerick has significant capacity constraints and an accident rate twice the average. Cork Chamber submissions made to Cork City Docks and Tivoli Docks Issue Papers
Cork City Council has begun the preparation of Local Area Plans for the Cork City Docks and for Tivoli Docks. The new plans, once finalised, will replace the North Docks Local Area Plan 2005 and the South Docks Local Area Plan 2008. Cork Chamber made submission to each issues paper as part of this pre-plan issues exploration stage of this process. The City Council will now prepare a report summarising the issues raised across all submissions received with the Draft Local Area Plans expected in early 2018.

New Public Procurement Guidelines Launched
Minister of State with special responsibility for public procurement, at the Department of Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform, Patrick O’Donovan T.D. launched the new guidelines and template tender documents by the Office of Government Procurement. The guidelines replace previous guidelines published by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform and take account of 2014 EU Directives, as implemented in Ireland.
