Cork Gets Ready To Tee Off For The 2014 Irish Open

19th - 22nd June, Fota Island Resort, Cork.



This week offers a huge opportunity to ‘open’ Cork to almost 100,000 visitors, while, all over the world, 300 million television viewers will see the beauty of the county and city, in glorious weather, which is invaluable. The people of Cork have been looking forward to this event for months now, and those who travel from all over the world, can be assured of a warm and unforgettable experience.  It is expected that this event will see a significant short term and longer term tangible benefit for Cork. 


More than just a world-class golf event, the 2014 Irish Open promises to feature something for everyone. This year’s tournament will play host to a crazy trouser day, a purpose built food festival, and will also feature a Championship Village with an array of bars and shops for all to enjoy.

Take the Train to The 2014 Irish Open
 

How to Get To The Fairway at the 2014 Irish Open @ Fota Island Resort, Fota, Co. Cork ……..…..…. Without Having to Drive!

 

The location of the 2014 Irish Open at Fota Island Resort, Fota, Co, Cork - is ideal for travelling by Train. Fota Island, which is beautifully situated in the middle of Cork Harbour, has its own Railway Station - just thirteen minutes by train from Kent Station, Cork – or ten minutes by train from Cobh.

 

A special entrance to the golf course, has been built by the European Tour – just 400 meters walk from Fota Station – so that travelling by train to Fota for the 2014 Irish Open at Fota Island Resort has never been easier.

 

Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail is offering Free Car Parking at its East Cork Commuter Stations – i.e. Midleton, Carrigtwohill, Glounthaune and Little Island Stations – so that parking at any of these stations and travelling by commuter train to Fota is convenient.

Additional Cork - Fota/Cobh Services

  • Thursday 19th & Friday 20th June - 8 daily additional commuter services will operate on top of regular services.
  • Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd June - every half hour from 07:00 until 20:00 with normal services outside of these hours.

Cogans are hosting their very own golf open, in support of the Irish Open. The competition teed off on Monday, June 16th. With a mini putting green put in place in the showroom, Cogans are inviting all to come down and partake in this exciting putting competition. The winner of the putting challenge will win the glory of being crowned Cogans Champion and a green fee to Monkstown Golf Club.  Cogans will also run a draw for another green fee, for all those who participate in the competition.
