Cork Chamber last night awarded the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Business Award’ 2018 to Mr. Frank Boland at Cork Chamber’s Dublin Dinner. Mr. Boland accepted the award in front of more than 600 leading political and business people in The Clayton Hotel Burlington Road. This is the eight year the award has been presented at the Chamber’s annual Dublin black-tie event. 

Bill O’Connell, President of Cork Chamber said of the announcement, “Frank Boland’s contribution to Cork city as both a businessman and as a President and long serving member of Cork Chamber has been wide ranging and significant. From building a successful business of his own, to his active engagement on the boards of key semi-state companies, Frank has had a defining influence on the business and social life in his native city and acted as a formidable advocate for Ireland and for Cork.”

Speaking at Cork Chamber’s 8^th annual dinner held last night Chamber President Bill O’Connell narrated a vision of Cork in 2030 underpinned by Government delivery of the National Development Plan without delay.  A thriving and diverse city region, facilitated by light rail, infrastructure, downtown living and access to waterways. 

“Let’s do it, let’s make it happen. We have a once in a lifetime opportunity to make Cork a global destination and a real complement to Dublin. We need investment commitments to get underway and deliver on Government’s 2040 vision. From bus connects, to light rail, and density of urban housing, delays in delivery must not hamper Cork’s growth potential.”

Cork Chamber and the British Embassy in Ireland will launch of their collaborative report: ‘Joining the Dots - Promoting Economic Opportunity between the UK and South West Ireland’ next Monday, 26^th November. The launch will bring together government, business and academic stakeholders from across South West Ireland and the UK, and will feature a keynote address by An Tánaiste, Simon Coveney.
