Major Leap Forward for Cork
On Capitol Hill: Niall MacCarthy,Cork Airport and Conor Healy,Cork Chamber. Cork Chamber is extremely satisfied with the significant step forward in the US Department of Transportation’s (DOT) process of approving Norwegian Air International’s (NAI) application to operate direct Cork-Boston flights. In a Show Cause Order issued today the US authorities conclude that NAI appears to meet DOT’s normal standards for award of a permit and tentatively determines that there is no legal basis to deny NAI’s application.
Commenting, Conor Healy, CEO of Cork Chamber said: “This move is major milestone and gives great encouragement in respect of a final approval, which will transform opportunities for business and tourism in Cork”.
“On behalf of business and tourism interests, the granting of the permit to operate flights between Cork and Boston has been a key lobbying focus of Cork Chamber over the last 6 months in particular, most recently through our direct campaigning in Washington DC in partnership with Cork Airport. Through the unrivalled determination of Cork Airport, DAA and Government we are now seeing light at the end of the tunnel.”
