Ireland Leaps 9 Places in Latest Competitiveness Ranking

Ireland is now the 7th most competitive country in the world, the latest IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook shows. This is a significant improvement of 9 places since last year, and represents Ireland’s highest ranking since 2001.

The top ten competitive countries are:

  1. Hong Kong
  2. Switzerland
  3. US
  4. Singapore
  5. Sweden
  6. Denmark
  7. Ireland
  8. The Netherlands
  9. Norway
  10. Canada

Ireland performs particularly well on business efficiency, where we are ranked 2nd among the 61 countries included, while our economic performance is ranked an impressive 6th. The report also highlights areas in need of improvement, not least infrastructure where Ireland is ranked 23rd overall but only 40th for basic infrastructure.
