Over the last four months, Una McKevitt and Rimini Protokoll have been meeting 100 extraordinary Cork people, who will take to the stage of the Opera House to present a portrait of the city and its population in 100%Cork. Our desire to be local and global can also be seen in Eat the Street, in which Toronto's Mammalian Diving Reflex train Cork school children to become restaurant critics, and in the work of Luke Murphy, a young Cork-born dancer who lives in New York and returns to his home city to premiere a new performance Icarus. We are also very excited about local song-star Mick Flannery's return from Berlin to play our opening night, and about the extraordinary range of the WE LIVE HERE performances, created by artists who live and work in Cork. And these are just some of the unique events in unexpected places during this year's Festival!

In this year of The Gathering, we want to particularly welcome you to our 2013 Festival and city. Our ambition is to give you a real snapshot of what's going on in Cork right now. And we want you to experience it first-hand.

We've put together some great offers with hotels and restaurants in the city to help you out: you can find out more here.

This July and August CIT Data Science and Analytics students are seeking business partners to build their experience and to put their existing skills to test.

In addition to seeking field experience, students are currently evaluating potential projects to adopt for the research dimension of their programme. An opportunity exists for companies to work with a student on a particular aspect of their business. This way, a real-life data analytics problem is addressed, ensuring both the company and the student benefit from the collaboration.

These students are undertaking a one-year Higher Diploma in Data Science and Data Analytics programme which has been designed to address the skills shortage in the rapidly evolving interdisciplinary field of Data Science and Analytics. All of these students are already qualified, to at least Level 8, in areas such as Mathematical Sciences, Engineering, Commerce, Business, Science, and Public Health.

Demand for graduates in this space is high. Taking a student for a short work placement or collaborating on a research project can assist in identifying potential future employees for your business.

If you would like to explore these opportunities please see the Linkedin group or contact 021 432 6017 for further information.
