Cork Chamber is delighted to welcome Dr. Kieran Drain, CEO of Tyndall National Institute who will be guest speaker at our next business breakfast on Tuesday 31st March 2015 in the Clarion Hotel.
The Tyndall National Institute brings companies from around the world to Cork to collaborate and is spinning out successful start-ups, as well helping growing companies through research. Tyndall is focused on developing technology solutions for health, communications, energy, agriculture, food, marine and the environment sectors. Meet the Tyndall Researchers after the Business Breakfast
The Enterprise Europe Network in Cork is helping local SMEs to engage with some of the top researchers in the region to learn more about potential opportunities for collaboration.
Following the business breakfast with Dr. Kieran Drain, the Enterprise Europe Network will be hosting an interactive session with some of the Tyndall research staff, to outline how SMEs can engage with the Tyndall on R&D and EU projects. The session will include practical tips on how to engage with the Tyndall, an overview of some current projects, and examples of past projects which given rise to successful research-SME collaborations. This session is particularly aimed at SMEs with interest/expertise in the areas of Food, Agri and Environment.

The Enterprise Europe Network is hosting an informative workshop on the ISO 50001 Energy Management System in association with Energia. Using energy efficiently helps organisations to save money as well as helping to conserve resources and tackle climate change. The European Commission is encouraging SMEs to become more energy-aware and thereby contribute to the overall reduction of energy consumption, as well as promoting the development and uptake of innovative new technologies in the energy sector.

This week, the Chamber is leading a Cork delegation in Brussels. The group comprises of delegates from Cork Chamber, Cork City and County Councils, Cork innovates, UCC and CIT. The theme of the trip is ‘Innovation and Entrepreneurship’ and its focus is to learn about how Cork could be taking advantage of opportunities in Europe. During the course of the trip, meetings are scheduled with the Irish Regions Office, Enterprise Ireland, European Commission (EC) staff, Irish MEPs and our Permanent Representation of Ireland to the EU Office.
