This event is a unique event for businesses in Cork. Joan Freeman, CEO at Pieta House will meet members of local businesses and inform them of the work Pieta House is doing in Cork. Guests will receive a tour of the renovated convent in Bishopstown where Pieta House is located and meet the therapists delivering these much needed services. Light refreshments will be served.
About the Event: Pieta House is the centre for the prevention of suicide and self-harm. It has centres all over Ireland and opened in Bishopstown, Cork at Christmas 2013. Pieta House offers a unique service to businesses that enables staff to identify and act on suicidal ideation in fellow staff members. The purpose of this event is to inform business owners, managing directors and HR managers of this support service and the general work of Pieta House in Cork in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
Pieta House first opened in Lucan in 2006 and since then a further six centres have opened. In 2013, Pieta House welcomed nearly 4,000 people into their centres throughout Dublin, Galway, Kerry and Cork. By establishing new centres in these areas, we hope to be able to support people in the region who are in distress, and take a step closer to having a Pieta House within 100km of everybody in Ireland. “Mind Ur Buddy” Campaign: The initiative, involves a ‘Buddy Support Person’ in every business being taught to look for out for any signs and symptoms of suicidal behaviour, how to approach someone and what to do if someone approaches them. As 90% of Pieta House’s income comes from fundraising events, the charity heavily relies on the support and encouragement of their volunteers and the friends of Pieta. Contact us now
