Workplace Event Applications
 

National Bike Week is back for 2019 June 22nd - 30th, and Cork Sports Partnership is offering workplaces the opportunity to get involved.

Funding has been secured from the Department of Transport, Sport and Tourism to support participation cycling events during the week.

The fund will provide a limited number of workplaces with the opportunity to get involved by organising a cycling event as part of the celebration.


National Bike Week 2019 (22nd - 30th June) – Workplace Event Applications

 

National Bike Week is back for 2019 and Cork Sports Partnership is offering workplaces the opportunity to get involved.

 

Cork Bike Week plays an integral part of National Bike Week with 6,195 people taking part across 72 Cork events in 2018. In 2019, with your help, we hope to exceed this.

 

Cork City Council & Cork County Council have secured funding from the Department of Transport, Sport and Tourism to support participation cycling events during the week. The fund, administered by Cork Sports Partnership, will provide a limited number of workplaces with the opportunity to get involved by organising a cycling event as part of the celebration.

 

Funding available

Funding is limited for events in 2019. The following maximum amounts are available:

€400 (This is subject to the quantity and quality of applications received)

 

Workplace Event Criteria:

  • The event MUST be FREE & take place during Bike Week (22nd - 30th June 2019)
  • The scale and scope of your National Bike Week event is up to each applicant. However, applications that focus on the following event criteria will be more positively received and prioritised

Sample events can include:

  • Cycling to Work day
  • Corporate Challenge ie Malin to Mizen/Cork to Moscow on turbo trainers/spin bikes. Inter-agency distance challenge, co-ordinated by Cork Sports Partnership
  • Bike Repair and Maintenance Classes
  • Lunchtime Cycles (Option available to cycle to Fitzgeralds Park for free lunch on Wed, 26th June – No funding available for this event as lunch is already being provided for free)
  • Bike building and team building techniques for corporate groups
  • Road Safety Workshops

Advancing You
Join South West Irish companies and stakeholders in the East Midlands UK
3-4 July 2019
 

Irish companies in the South West region are invited to express their interest in participating in a delegation of companies and stakeholders visiting the East Midlands region UK with the British Embassy in Dublin and the UK Department of International Trade.


Cork Chamber is coordinating this mission for companies in the region to learn more about initiatives and opportunities for scaling companies in the Midlands region, investing and buying in the UK .

 

Specifically, Agri-tech, ICT, Cyber, Precision Engineering and Manufacturing companies in the South West region as well as stakeholders are invited to express their interest in participating. 

 

Engage with:

  • The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), Coventry -  bridging the gap between academia and industry.
  • Harper Adams University – showcasing the Hands Free Hectare (HFHa), the first hectare in the world to plant, tend and harvest a crop with only autonomous vehicles and drones.
  • Stakeholders and local government - engaging to build connections around cyber security and smart cities challenges and opportunities.

Companies are invited to avail of this opportunity to build links and new collaborations across business, research and education between Cork and South West Ireland and the UK.

Cork Chamber is coordinating the mission with local stakeholders following the joint ‘Joining the Dots’ report published by the British Embassy in Ireland and Cork Chamber in November 2018.
