Dear Chamber Member,

The unfolding situation of Russia's military attacks on Ukraine has shocked our community and puts into stark contrast the relief we had been feeling recently as Covid-19 restrictions continued to ease.

Collaboration, partnership and common goals underpin the strength in our communities both locally and internationally. As recently as last November we welcomed HE Ambassador of Ukraine to Ireland Larysa Gerasko to our Chamber office and enjoyed a warm, optimistic discussion on opportunities to boost bilateral trade.

The European chamber network has expressed its solidarity towards colleagues in the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, towards the country’s entrepreneurial community and towards all Ukrainian citizens. A humanitarian crisis is unfolding and there are details below of some organisations taking donations to support their operations in helping the Ukrainian people. Link here.

We will continue to work closely with our colleagues in Chambers Ireland, Eurochambres and the International Chambers of Commerce to communicate our condemnation of the Russian attacks on a sovereign state and to support those affected.

In parallel, we will continue our activities to strengthen our relationships across the globe, engaging in economic diplomacy and enhancing Ireland and Cork's reputation as a place for business. Over the next number of weeks, Cork Chamber will participate in delegations to San Francisco, Washington DC, Chicago and Boston to strengthen our ties and promote partnerships across our cities’ regions. We are also working with international partners on inbound visits which will take place over the coming months.

At home in Cork, it has been a pleasure to return to in-person events, and I hope you will enjoy an opportunity to network, connect and participate in our series through the coming season.

I encourage you as a member to continue to share your views and experiences with us and I welcome you to contact me directly on 087-9471858 or by e-mail HERE  to discuss any issues affecting your business.

Warm regards,

Conor
