Submission to National Residential Rental Strategy Consultation

As called for earlier this year (see here), Cork Chamber believes that a dedicated rental strategy must be developed and implemented in order to restore balance to the Irish housing market and recognise the rental sector as an essential and permanent feature of our housing sector. We were pleased to see Government subsequently committing to developing a rental action plan as one pillar of the Rebuilding Ireland policy framework by the end of 2016. In developing a new National Residential Rental Strategy, the Department of Housing, Planning & Local Government invited submissions from interested stakeholders.

Our submission highlighted the social and economic consequences of failing to tackle rising rental prices and called for a rental strategy which stimulates new affordable and professionally managed rental accommodation in urban centres.
