Securing Cork’s Economic Growth

Cork Chamber is concerned that a decision to reduce the LPT may result in the increasing of commercial rates and or the ending of the Economic Development Fund. The Chamber would argue strongly that either scenario would only serve to harm economic development and limit the potential for jobs growth in the region.  It is vitally important that the commitment to economic development and a positive environment for job creation are maintained across the region. Cork Chamber is calling on the Council to properly plan any reductions in the LPT rates to ensure that resulting budgetary shortfalls are not sought through an increase in commercial rates for already struggling businesses in the region. We would further call for a commitment from the councils for the retention that the 1% ring fencing of rates collected is maintained for economic development and job creation.

To this end Cork Chamber is meeting with members Cork City and County Councils to highlight our concerns ahead of any decisions being made on the Local Property Tax.

Sinéad Kane running the Dublin Marathon for ISPCC/Childline
Doing a marathon is difficult but try doing it WHEN YOU CANT SEE WHERE YOU'RE GOING. YES YOU HEARD RIGHT. Anyone who knows my personal story knows that I am visually impaired and am registered as blind with just 5% vision, this makes training difficult. However, life was not meant to be simple.

I would very much appreciate your support in helping me to raise funds for the ISPCC/Childline. By reaching my target of €3,000 will mean that the ISPCC can take on 6 new volunteers.  Being a Cork native I would hope the business community in Cork gets behind my challenge and supports and donates.

Talent Acquisition, Faster, Smarter & Cheaper

Period of the offer available: During September 2014

We’re on a mission to make talent acquisition faster, cheaper and smarter for every employer across the globe. For the month of September Intalex is now free for employers. Membership is normally between €1,000 & €5,000 euros per company depending on headcount. We’re new to the Chamber and we’d like to help you solve your most difficult hiring challenges. Whilst slashing your recruitment spend by as much as 55%.

This offer is only valid until the 31st of September 2014. If you have any questions email here  or call +353 1 400 4400.

There’s a number benefits to joining the platform as an employer, here’s the highlights.

  1. One powerful platform that solves lots of your talent acquisition problems

Intalex gives employers access to an aggregated supply chain of readily available talent  sourced by specialist and high street agencies from around the globe. We’ve thousands of recruiter members ready and waiting to fill your most difficult positions.

  1. Unlimited Job Posts that put the Employer in Control of Agency Fees

If you post a job on Intalex we circulate it to our members who have access to the talent you need. From the placements our members have made we’ve seen a saving of anywhere between 33% and 55% per successful hire.  There’s lots of agencies out there who don’t rigidly stick to the 15%-20% placement fee and who thrive in an open and competitive marketplace. You can find them on intalex in minutes and reduce your cost per successful hire.

  1. Time to Hire is Significantly Reduced

Take a look at your PSL and ask yourself,

  1. Is it mostly local agencies high street agencies?
  2. Is it tailored to specific roles and HR Requirements?
  3. Are the fees primarily fixed?
  4. Has it changed much overtime?

In most cases we find the answer to these questions is a yes. The likelyhood is that the agencies on your PSL have got almost identical data. By putting your requirements out in an open market you have access to a pool of candidates that your PSL cannot reach. Your talent pool just got a whole lot deeper.

4. We’re all about ROI and we’re cheaper than our competitors.

Even if Intalex wasn’t free our platform offers so much more than your typical jobs boards and CV databases that range from hundreds to thousands with little or no garuantees for success. We only deal in readily available talent, we offer annual subscriptions, unlimited users per account and free support to all of our members. For most businesses one successful hire on Intalex more than justifies the cost of membership.

We’re new to the chamber and we’d like to help you get signed up, as a fellow member of the chamber we can also help you get started on the platform with demonstrations and training available for your team and we’ll even get your jobs uploaded to you.

This offer is only valid until the 31st of September 2014. If you have any questions email info@intalex.com or call +353 1 400 4400.

Led by Dr Derek Power, Consultant Oncologist at the Mercy University Hospital, funds raised through Jeans4Genes Day will be used to fund a six month pilot study that will help to personalise treatments for bowel cancer patients.

The Mercy has always had patient care at the heart of its activities, and this ground breaking genetics research is another example of it being a progressive hospital that is advancing new treatments and research.” She continued “I’m urging the people of Cork and Munster to hold a Jeans4Genes Day fundraiser to advance the future of cancer care, to affect real change, and to help more people to battle cancer successfully. None of us know when we could be affected by cancer and may need these services for ourselves or family members.”Speaking about the rationale behind Jeans4Genes Day, Micheál Sheridan, CEO, The Mercy Hospital Foundation said “Our mission is to support the Hospital in delivering the highest quality of patient care by raising funds to support advancements and innovation in the treatment and care of patients at the Mercy Hospital, the People’s Hospital.
