Significant flooding has had a major and devastating impact on the businesses of Cork City since 2009. Cork Chamber has led the way in identifying the criticality of implementing an appropriate flood defence scheme and has been working on your behalf to achieve this.


Cork Chamber has consistently engaged with the OPW outlining the need for an appropriate and detailed consultation period to disseminate the preferred solution for such a scheme. This is vital to allow the thousands of businesses operating within the City an adequate opportunity to discuss the details of the proposed options with the OPW.

Cork Chamber encourages all businesses in flood affected areas to attend and fully engage with the public consultation which takes place in the Cork City Council Offices from Tuesday, July 29^th to Friday, 1^st August from 9am to 5pm

Cork Foundation will host a U.S. and Irish Female Entrepreneurs Networking Evening on Wednesday, July 30^th at 6:30PM at the Rochestown Park Hotel, Cork. The School of Asian Studies at University College Cork - Ireland’s leading centre for Chinese and Asian teaching and research – has launched an exciting new programme, the Higher Diploma in Business Language and Culture in East Asia.

This programme offers a wonderful opportunity to work with skilled and experienced  academics from UCC’s School of Asian Studies in partnership with the Asian Trade Forum. Focus Ireland Shine a Light Night iniative is looking for business leaders to sleep out together for one night in Cork’s Historic City Gaol or Dublin’s Iveagh Gardens to raise funds and awareness of the issue of homelessness here in Ireland. Since 2012 over 120 business leaders have slept out and raised over €675,000 to support the work of the charity.
