Call for expression of interest from companies
 

Mission to East Midlands UK with Department of International Trade UK and Cork Chamber 2-4 July 2019

 

Companies in the South West region are invited to express their interest in participating in a delegation of companies visiting the East Midlands region UK.

 

This mission will provide an opportunity to learn more about initiatives and opportunities for scaling companies in the Midlands region.


Mission to East Midlands UK with Department of International Trade UK and Cork Chamber 2-4 July 2019

 

Companies in the South West region are invited to express their interest in participating in a delegation of companies visiting the East Midlands region UK.

 

This mission will provide an opportunity to learn more about initiatives and opportunities for scaling companies in the Midlands region including engagement with:

  • The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), Coventry -  bridging the gap between academia and industry
  • Harper Adams University – showcasing the Hands Free Hectare (HFHa), the first hectare in the world to plant, tend and harvest a crop with only autonomous vehicles and drones
  • Stakeholders and local government - engaging to build connections around cyber security and smart cities challenges and opportunities

An information session for participating companies will be held in Cork on 14 June. Companies are invited to avail of this opportunity to build links and new collaborations across business, research and education between Cork and South West Ireland and the UK.

 

This mission is one of the actions resulting from the joint ‘Joining the Dots’ report published by the British Embassy in Ireland and Cork Chamber in November 2018.

Each year businesses across Cork get involved in what has become one of the biggest - if not the biggest - annual fundraising event in Cork. All funds raised go to support cancer services locally through the five charity partners:The Mercy Hospital Foundation;The CUH Charity; Marymount Hospice; Arc House and Breakthrough Cancer Research.

Funding Cork Charities
 

Cork Chamber is championing a community funding drive to raise €100,000. This Fund, called the Cork Chamber 1819 Fund, will benefit Cork community initiatives with a social, environmental or economic impact.

 

We are asking businesses and individuals to support this philanthropic fund, to give some of our great social enterprises in Cork an opportunity to thrive and grow. 100% of all funds raised will be matched by Social Innovation Fund Ireland, and will go directly to the appointed charities.

 

Individuals, SMEs or multinational businesses can donate directly online before the closing date at end of June.
