Cork Chamber Welcomes A Unique Opportunity For Cork
Cork Chamber President Mr. Barrie O'Connell welcomed the report of the independent Statutory Committee, appointed to carry out an objective review of local government arrangements in Cork City and County Cork, launched today by Minister Alan Kelly T.D. and Chairman Mr. Alf Smiddy.
Mr. O'Connell stated, "The overarching recommendation to create a unified local authority structure in Cork, with a strong metropolitan division at its core will provide Cork with the winning formula to speak with one strong voice and will ensure that our remarkable region remains centre-stage. This is a unique opportunity for the citizens and stakeholders in Cork to now prioritise and position our region as an international location of substance for economic development, with a recognised and valuable contribution to make to the national, European and World economies".

Cork innovates launches the Cork Startup Gathering programme of events taking place from 2nd to 10th Oct 2015
New App to Showcase Startup Gathering Events Nationwide
Launched yesterday, the programme of events for The Startup Gathering 2015 includes over 50 events that will take place throughout Cork from the 2nd to the 10th of October. The aim of the Startup Gathering 2015 is to promote entrepreneurship and help develop world class regional startup hubs as well as highlighting Ireland’s startup sector to global entrepreneurs, investors and R&D teams.
Perry Street Market Café Announced as Cork's Friendliest Business
Perry Street Market Café have been announced as the overall JCI Cork (Junior Chamber) Friendliest Business 2015. Over 190 nominations were submitted for the awards which are sponsored by Cork Chamber, Evening Echo, Clayton Silver Springs and RedFm. Brian Drinan and Paul Coffey, Co-Proprietors of Perry Street Market Café had a vision that grew from their passion for entertaining and good food and in August 2013 Perry Street Market Café opened its doors.
Other category winners included Educogym for Customer Care, Walk Shoes for Eco-Friendliness, Optimal Chiropractic for Disability Access, EIL Ireland for Digital Experience, Verso for Social Friendliness and Perry Street Market Café for Shop Layout.

TRADEIT Food Technology Event, IT Tralee
Date: 1st-3rd October
The event is being organised by TRADIT, a collaborative project supporting small to medium sized traditional food producers and who work within the dairy, meat or bakery sectors. The event will bring together traditional food producers and experts in food safety technologies from across Europe. The purpose of the event is to present technologies suitable for the traditional food sector, and to facilitate the exchange of best practice between food producers, technology providers, researchers and food safety experts. This event has a particular focus on food safety issues for the dairy, meat and bakery Sectors. A brokerage event will take place during the event and there will also be a visit to the Dingle Food Festival. Two Charities Benefit from Golf Classic
We hope all those who attend last weeks Annual Golf Classic in Association with VHI Healthcare enjoyed the day.There was some fantastic prizes up for grabs this year as well as a superb goody bag for each player. Many thanks to all of the companies who supported this event, by donating prizes and items for the goody bags. The Hole in One competition on 13th Hole was sponsored by Corporate Travel Management (CTM) and United Airlines. As we had no winner of the Hole in One, CTM & United kindly agreed to raffle off the prize, raising almost €1600 for charity. Two charities were picked out of “a hat” at the presentation and the fund will be split between them. The two benefitting charities are Breakthrough Cancer Research and Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind. The format was a fourball scramble and the winning team was Egans Cork Silver, with a whopping score of 51.2.
