Teritorial supply constraints are limitations imposed by certain large manufacturers that make it difficult for retailers to buy products in one EU country and sell them in another.

The European Commission has launched a new public survey, targeted at understanding the scale of the problem and identifying appropriate measures to tackle constraints for the benefit of businesses and consumers.

Businesses developing strong commercial links across the island of Ireland are encouraged to explore the new North–South Business Cooperation Awards, which recognise innovative start-ups driving cross-border collaboration. With a total prize fund of €500,000, the awards celebrate businesses creating economic value and lasting partnerships between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Eligible businesses must have been established in 2020 or later, demonstrate significant cross-border activity, and meet the programme's eligibility criteria. Applications close on 7 September 2026, with winners announced at an awards ceremony on 28 October 2026. If your business is building partnerships and opportunities across the island of Ireland, this is an excellent opportunity to gain recognition and support for your work.
