European Mobility Week
Friday 20th September

Join the Race Against Rob and the Mobility Café on Grand Parade.

You are invited to “Race against Rob” using low carbon means of transport including walking, cycling and public transport. The race takes place this Friday 20th September, commencing at the newly refurbished transport hub at Kent Train Station at 11.30 and will include a number of routes between 5km and 11km around Cork City with the finish at Cork City Library on the Grand Parade. Register via Eventbrite. The Southern Regional Assembly and Cork Transport Mobility Forum have organised this event as part of European Mobility Week on 20th September 2019 in Cork City. World Champion, Olympic Medallist and National Record Holder for the 50km walking race – Rob Heffernan is a community and youth ambassador and will be joined by a number of transition year students to highlight the 2019 European Mobility Week theme “Walk with Us!” - focusing on safe walking and cycling and the ways active mobility can benefit our health and environment. You have an option to join the walking, cycling or bus + cycle team. This event will promote sustainable and public transport for active commuting.

The full event is funded via Interreg Europe MATCH-UP project and Cork City Council. The MATCH-UP project focuses on the optimisation of travel hubs – that is the places where people change between low carbon transport modes – Walking/Cycling, Public Transport, Rail Transport and Green Vehicles.  The project aims to improve these interchanges at local level to improve public transport by learning from our Interregional partners. The Race Against Rob is followed by a Mobility Café.
