This week’s issue provides detail on National Employment Week, a private sector initiative which is promoting job creation in Ireland to strengthen economic and social recovery.

National Employment Week: On February 25th, Cork Chamber attended the launch of National Employment Week in the Clarion Hotel. National Employment Week is a private sector initiative which focuses on social and economic issues surrounding employment in Ireland. Recognising the challenges associated with job creation, this week is designed to encourage all stakeholders to take an active role. Employer events are being held nationwide and focus on a sharing of best practice, on topics which include Attracting Talent through Social Media, Developing Graduate Programmes and Acquiring Talent to meet FDI demand, which companies can take back to their business and implement immediately. The week concludes with the launch of an inaugural National Jobseekers Day on Friday 1st March. This will include the launch of a unique online resource centre providing insightful career advice, tips direct from Ireland’s top employers, step by step jobseeker toolkits and video tutorials. CORKMEET Final Briefing - CHANGE OF DATE
The final Business Briefing about CorkMEET will now take place on Wednesday 6th March at 5pm (not 27 Feb as previously advertised) in Vertigo in Cork County Hall. The CorkMEET team will be on hand to outline details of the activities planned from 10th-12th April.
They will advise on how to complete the registration process by completing a detailed company profile and how to maximise the networking opportunities available to generate further business leads. Cork innovates recently played host to a team of graduate students from the University of Michigan MBA programme whose remit was to engage with Cork innovates and its partner organisations in order to offer a fresh and independent perspective; assisting Cork innovates analyse regional entrepreneurial endeavors and activities which have the ability to impact on sustainable job creation for the region.

LIFE+ Call for Proposals 2013
The seventh LIFE+ call for proposals was published on 19th February 2013. There is up to €278 million available for co-financing of projects under the following headings: Nature and Biodiversity; Environment Policy and Governance; and Information and Communication (relating to environmental projects).
