The Cork Chamber October Business After Hours Networking Event will take place on Thursday 25th October from 6pm – 8pm in the VHI SwiftCare Clinic in City Gate, Mahon and is a networking opportunity for Cork Chamber members.
The Vhi SwiftCare Clinic is Cork's first walk-in urgent care clinic and provides medical care for minor injuries and illness. The clinic aims to treat patients within an hour. Open to all members of the public, not just patients with private health insurance, the clinics are open 365 days a year.

Cork Chamber's Annual Dublin Dinner

Cork Chamber’s 2012 Dublin Dinner will take place at 7.30pm on Tuesday 20th November in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin with special guest speaker Mr Simon Coveney TD, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine. This event will promote the strong connections that exist between Cork and Dublin Businesses and enhance existing business relations between the two regions.
In addition at the event, Cork Chamber will honour the outstanding contribution to business by a Cork person and this year’s recipient of the award will be Mr Brian McCarthy, Founder & Executive Chairman of Fexco.
Cork Chamber’s Dublin Dinner 2012 will hold unique potential for Dublin-based companies to meet with their Cork peers as well as Cork companies doing business in Dublin. It also affords the opportunity for networking amongst Cork business people who are Dublin based. Cork Chamber is delighted to welcome Ernst & Young as the event sponsor this year. With cross office service teams from Cork and Dublin working with some of the country's largest indigenous and multinational businesses, Ernst & Young is leading the way in establishing the type of business connections this event is trying to promote.

Local Government Reform The Chamber welcomes the recent Action Programme for Effective Local Government announced by Minister for the Environment and Local Government Phil Hogan, TD. The proposals to reduce the number of local authorities will support greater cohesion, accountability and efficiencies. The Chamber supports a stronger role for local government in economic, social and community development. Further details can be found here. Jazz it up for the Festival
The local Cork Jazz Festival Committee in association with Guinness are delighted to announce a “Best Jazz Window” Competition to be held in the Cork City Centre over the Festival Weekend and the week leading up to it (October 22nd to October 29th). The Cork Jazz Festival is in its 35th year in Cork. This year, we hope to run a "best dressed window competition" for all the businesses in the city centre. It will open to shop windows of all shapes and sizes as we hope to have a prize for best window as well as best small window. We also hope to have a prize for best overall theme. During European Week for Safety and Health at Work, the Health and Safety Authority in partnership with Retail Ireland are holding seminars in Dublin on 25th October and in Cork on 26th October. The theme, "Working together for risk prevention" will have a particular emphasis on the retail sector. The seminars will focus on encouraging managers, workers and other stakeholders to join forces to improve safety and health. Creating a healthy and safe workplace is not solely the responsibility of management. There is a big incentive for employees to improve occupational safety and health as they are often the ones who suffer most from any failing.
