Cork Chamber’s November Breakfast will feature Fiona Buckley, Head of Operations with Failte Ireland on Tuesday 13th November at 7.30am in the Imperial Hotel and is run in association with the Irish Examiner.
Fáilte Ireland based in Cork and operating out of the South West, consists of Cork and Kerry and is the biggest destinations for overseas visitors outside of Dublin with over 2,800 business operating in the tourism sector from accommodation to attractions, activities, transport, pubs and restaurants. Fiona previously worked as Chief Executive of Cork Kerry Tourism prior to the regional authority’s transition into Fáilte Ireland and previously Fiona was head of marketing with the Blarney Woollen Mills Group operating in the retail, hotel, manufacturing, wholesale and export sectors and MD of Kellmorr Investments in Cork. This is a unique opportunity to hear an overview on the tourism activities, plans and challenges for the South West Region and the opportunities that The Gathering 2013 can bring to Cork businesses. Cork Chamber’s 2012 Dublin Dinner will take place at 7.30pm on Tuesday 20th November in the Burlington Hotel, Dublin with special guest speaker Mr Simon Coveney TD, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine. This event will promote the strong connections that exist between Cork and Dublin Businesses and enhance existing business relations between the two regions.
In addition at the event, Cork Chamber will honour the outstanding contribution to business by a Cork person and this year’s recipient of the award will be Mr Brian McCarthy, Founder & Executive Chairman of Fexco.
Cork Chamber’s Dublin Dinner 2012 will hold unique potential for Dublin-based companies to meet with their Cork peers as well as Cork companies doing business in Dublin. It also affords the opportunity for networking amongst Cork business people who are Dublin based. Cork Chamber is delighted to welcome Ernst & Young as the event sponsor this year. With cross office service teams from Cork and Dublin working with some of the country's largest indigenous and multinational businesses, Ernst & Young is leading the way in establishing the type of business connections this event is trying to promote.
Guests on the night will include key political and business leaders as well as national media to ensure Cork’s economic development is kept high on the national agenda.

Cork Chamber and The Kilkenny Group will join forces for the November Business After Hours Event on Thursday, 29th November from 6pm – 8pm, a FREE Networking Event for Cork Chamber members.
The Kilkenny Shop, Emmet place, Cork opened its doors in November 2007 and can be found opposite Cork's famous Opera House. Since opening, the store has become well known for it's extensive selection of jewellery, accessories, crafts and giftware. The Kilkenny Shop in Cork celebrates their 5th birthday this year with the introduction of an amazing new fashion department. With Christmas due to arrive in the store later this month a visit to Kilkenny is a must!

Airport Travel Survey 2012 - Results: The Chamber has recently released the findings of its Airport Travel Survey 2012 conducted in association with Cork Airport. The survey highlights the critical importance of a well-serviced International Airport in Cork to support and grow business activity. Businesses indicate strong reliance on the air travel services provided by Cork Airport with at least 16% using them on a weekly basis, 45% on a monthly basis and 79% on a quarterly basis. More than three-quarters of respondents (78%) believe that the level of direct air services to/from Cork Airport is crucial for businesses when deciding to locate or expand within the region. There was high demand for the introduction of a number of routes including Cork/Dublin (23%), New York (17%), Frankfurt (15%), Boston (11%) and Belfast (5%). The results of this survey shows the need for increased route development from Cork Airport, increased frequencies and competitive costs to sustain and grow business activity in the South of Ireland. Temporary Partial Credit Guarantee Scheme: The Government launched the Temporary Partial Credit Guarantee Scheme on October 24th which facilitates up to €150 million of additional lending to eligible SMEs per annum. The purpose of the scheme is to encourage additional lending to SMEs and enable them to develop a good record with the lender in order to return to standard commercial credit facilities in time.
