Cork City advances in Purple Flag award application
 |
Cork Chamber is pleased to announce the upcoming Purple Flag award assessment which is due for completion this Saturday the 15th August. The award assessment will be undertaken by two representatives from the Purple Flag Academy Programme visiting Cork city to complete an independent adjudication of the city with regard to the Purple Flag award criteria. The Purple Flag award requires that a comprehensive set of standards, management processes and good practice procedures are in place with regard to city or town management with the award specifically focusing on the review of the evening and night time offering between the hours of 5pm to 5am under the theme areas of Wellbeing, Movement, Appeal, Place and Policy, with the awarding symbolising a location that offers a well-managed, diverse, entertaining and enjoyable evening and night out.
The Cork City Purple Flag award application, which was initiated as an action via the Cork City Centre Forum, and coordinated and funded by Cork Chamber, has included workshops, the undertaking of a comprehensive opinion survey, a Purple Flag award self–assessment and the completion and submission of a comprehensive application to the Purple Flag academy. The independent Purple Flag Academy award assessment is the final step in concluding this application process, and will inform the final award decision due to be announced in November 2015.
