Cork Businesses Encouraged to Engage in Flood Relief Consultation
Cork Chamber welcomes the opening of public consultation on the Lower Lee Flood Relief Scheme.

Commenting at of the opening of the consultation, Conor Healy, Cork Chamber CEO, said: “Cork Chamber is encouraged to see the Lower Lee Flood Relief Scheme today moving to the next phase. Adequate flood protection and the availability of flood insurance has been a priority of our policy campaigns, primarily since Cork City was devastated by severe flooding in 2009. From then we have remained in close interaction with the Office of Public Works and various Ministers, including a recent meeting with Minister Canney, on the obvious need for immediate investment in flood defences in Cork to protect businesses and homeowners from severe economic costs arising from repetitive flood events in our city. ”
