The 194th AGM took place on Monday 15th April last, where Gillian Keating, Partner at J.W.O'Donovan Solicitors was elected as President.


We welcome Gillian Keating as our new President and the Chamber team look forward to working with her over the next 2 years. A very big thank you to John Mullins for the outstanding contribution he has made to the Chamber and the Cork region during his term of office.

The Enterprise Europe Network, in association with the EU SME Centre in Beijing, is hosting a half-day seminar focusing on the influential global market that is China. The event will take place on Tuesday, 23rd April in The River Lee Hotel between 08:30 and 12:30. The event will cover the supports available for Irish companies looking to do business in or with China; an introduction to China’s macroeconomic framework; opportunities by industry sector and location considerations, to name but a few topics.

As a final reminder, applications are now open for this year’s Chambers Ireland CSR Awards.  These Awards recognise the commitment of the Irish business community to the values of CSR.  Closing date for nominations is Thursday 25th April at 5pm.  For further information and details on how to enter see the ‘Read More’ section below.  This week’s issue also provides details of planned closures by Irish Rail on the Cork-Mallow commuter service in May to facilitate planned maintenance work.
