The Global Investor Challenge

The Global Startup Gathering 2016 (GSG) was launched at Cork Airport on July 12th, by Cork Innovates and their twelve partners.

At the launch, CorkBIC announced an exciting entrepreneurial competition, The Global Investor Challenge, an integral part of The GSG 2016 proceedings.

Its aim is to entice investor-ready startups to travel to Ireland, in order to compete and win the €50,000 prize fund for their business.

The competition will run throughout the Global Startup Gathering, and will also coincide with the Startup Nations Summit 2016, both taking place from in November in Cork. Speaking at the launch, Michael O’Connor of CorkBIC said “This is a huge opportunity for Ireland given that it is the first time the GEN Startup Nations Summit has come to Europe”.

Online applications are accepted from July 12th, with second-round regional finals to be held across Ireland, in the week leading up to the Startup Nations Summit. The grand final will be held during the Global Startup Gathering’s programme of events, at a gala dinner in Cork on November 19th.

Cork Innovates and CorkBIC are delighted to support the Global Investor Challenge initiative and look forward to welcoming global entrepreneurs and startups to Cork later this year.
