Business area: “Latvijas Piens” (Latvian milk) is an enterprise fully owned by cooperatives of Latvian farmers, combining more than 600 Latvian dairy producers. Produces cheese and industrial milk products.

Business area: Smiltenes piens JSC is the third biggest dairy production company in production of half hard cheese and sixth biggest dairy production company in Latvia. JSC ‘Smiltenes piens’ produces wide dairy product choice – milk, kefir, butter, sour cream, cream, skimmed milk and whole milk curd, curd products and cheese  both packed and products sold by weight. Company’s produced production is natural without preservatives and the company does not use milk powder in production.

Business area: In response to high level of standards posed by Russian and European food-oversight services, Piejura uses German smoking sheds that allow for strict regulation of benzopyrene content in production. "Piejūra" uses the fish from the Baltic Sea. It allows us to process fresh fish on a daily basis and produce as much produce as required.

EU Trade Mission to Chengdu, China (21-23 October 2014)

The aim of this trade mission is help European companies (particularly SMEs) to operate internationally by exploiting business opportunities in China, and to promote business connections through matchmaking events with local entrepreneurs.  SMEs participating in the mission will have access to high level political representatives, key industry leaders, and local entrepreneurs. 


The mission is specifically aimed at the following sectors:

  • Environmental protection
  • Renewable Energy
  • Bio-pharmacy and bio-technology
  • Modern Agriculture (incl. organic agriculture, food quality and security, R&D on agricultural science and technology)
  • Aviation
  • ICT

 

The Mission will take place in conjunction with the IX EU-China Business and Technology Cooperation Fair. This event has been held for eight editions attracting 3255 Chinese companies and 1572 European companies. More than 10.000 bilateral meetings took place with one third creating successful matches.  The IX fair is expected to gather 800 to 1000 representatives of SMEs, clusters, business associations, R&D institutions and government bodies, and is organised by the EU Project Innovation Centre (EUPIC), member of the Enterprise Europe Network responsible for West China.
