Collaboration

Dear Chamber Member,

I hope as we move towards the phased lifting of restrictions that you, your family and colleagues are keeping well.

This past year, the power of collective and collaborative efforts in achieving common goals has become irrefutable. Cork Chamber has continued to harness its clarity of vision to represent our membership, and as a result we have positively influenced change through the year on issues ranging from improved business supports, to the continued progression of key infrastructural projects for the region. This work continues with vigour and intensity as the needs of our members, continue to evolve in light of our external environmental factors. The inimitable spirit of our city region remains both a guiding principle and driving force in our work.

Our engagement with stakeholders from Government to TII, the NTA and representative groups across the region continues, and over the coming weeks we will meet with cabinet ministers, senior management of our local authorities and from our universities, Cork ETB, our Port, Airport, EI and IDA- advocating on your behalf, collaborating to enhance the vitality of our region. It is encouraging to see that Phase 1 of the Dunkettle Interchange upgrade will open later this year, a project that we engaged deeply on, as it enhances multi-modal local access to Little Island, Glanmire and Glounthuane as well as improving movement of vehicles through one of Ireland’s busiest junctions. Meanwhile in the city centre the ‘Reimaging Cork’ programme takes another step forward with works to permanently pedestrianise 17 streets commencing next week – a positive move for traders in the city, as well as shoppers, visitors workers and investors. Every opportunity to invest in our city region must be taken to support the recovery of our local economy.

We welcome your continued input. Your sharing of the  insights and issues affecting your business shapes our agenda. We are guided by you.

In parallel, our international team is available to support you as you seek out opportunities to grow or navigated the changed structures of the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement.

I hope to see you at one of our many spring/summer networking or upskilling events which are running online.

Warm regards,

Paula
