‘The Business of Research’

Cork Chamber is delighted to welcome Dr. Kieran Drain, CEO of Tyndall National Institute who will be guest speaker at our next business breakfast on Tuesday 31st March 2015 in the Clarion Hotel.

The Tyndall National Institute brings companies from around the world to Cork to collaborate and is spinning out successful start-ups, as well helping growing companies through research. Tyndall is focused on developing technology solutions for health, communications, energy, agriculture, food, marine and the environment sectors. Here are some of the many topics he will address on the day:

  • Researchers working to extend your phone's battery life
  • €5.2m funding secured to develop solutions for Europe’s growing bandwidth demands
  • Making smarter “things” for greater connectivity of the “Internet of things”
  • Partnership with Teagasc to create a biosensor for real-time testing of milk helping Ireland capitalise on the growing demand in the Agri-food sector

We urge you not miss the opportunity to learn more about this research giant.

The Enterprise Europe Network is hosting an informative workshop on the ISO 50001 Energy Management System in association with Energia.  Using energy efficiently helps organisations to save money as well as helping to conserve resources and tackle climate change. The European Commission is encouraging SMEs to become more energy-aware and thereby contribute to the overall reduction of energy consumption, as well as promoting the development and uptake of innovative new technologies in the energy sector.

One way of making your business more energy aware is by implementing an ISO 50001 Energy Management System.
