The Cork Chamber October Business After Hours Networking Event will take place on Thursday 25th October from 6pm – 8pm in the VHI SwiftCare Clinic in City Gate, Mahon.
The Vhi SwiftCare Clinic is Cork's first walk-in urgent care clinic and provides medical care for minor injuries and illness. The clinic aims to treat patients within an hour. Open to all members of the public, not just patients with private health insurance, the clinics are open 365 days a year from 8am to 10pm.

Chambers Ireland Survey on Employment Costs and Budget 2013: To tie in with our activation strategies around Budget 2013, Chambers Ireland is focusing on the issues which our members, and the businesses they represent, feel are most important. They are running a survey which will feed into efforts to sustain employment and support businesses throughout 2013. Christmas Parking Initiatives: Cork City Council has recently announced free parking initiatives in a bid to boost pre-Christmas trade. The measures include free late-night parking and a free park-and-ride service on Saturdays. Following last year’s four week initiative a more structured scheme has been implemented. In a bid to drive economic development in the city centre the Council will extend free parking to all as follows:
- Paul Street and North Main Street car parks between 10am and 12pm Monday to Thursday beginning on October 22nd. - Paul Street car park between 6.30pm and midnight on Thursday and Friday to encourage late night parking beginning on October 25th. - Parking facilities at the Black Ash park-and-ride will be free on Saturdays.

A participative and interactive training approach will be followed throughout the programme. In tandem with a number of exercises (both individual and group), participants will be encouraged to discuss topics and share their own experiences.
At the end of this programme, successful participants will have: • acquired the theoretical knowledge enabling them to understand the role and responsibilities of a supervisor • acquired a range of supervisory and management skills • developed good interpersonal communication skills • demonstrated the confidence to deal with a variety of challenging situations • developed good work practices appropriate to their role as supervisor/line manager. Project Management Professional - Book here Dates: 16, 17 and 18 of October Professional Project Management is designed to establish a detailed understanding of Project Management terms, concepts and methodologies. The hands-on approach of this course ensures trainees “learn by doing” and gain a step-by-step, real-time experience of using the tools and implementing the methodologies and support structures. In simulating real-life environments, trainees gather the detailed knowledge required to apply the training on return to their work environment.
Learning Objectives: - Understand the purpose, inputs and outputs of the core processes in each of the five process groups: Initiating, Planning, Execution, Control and Closing. - Learn about the knowledge areas of project management (Integration, Scope, Time, Cost, Quality, Human Resources, Communications, Risk, Procurement plus Professional and Social Responsibility). Understand how each knowledge area contributes to the progression of a project from start to finish, and know how to create the key deliverables at each stage. - Learn key project management techniques, together with how and when to use them. Examples of such tools and techniques include Budget, Risk Analysis, Scheduling, Gantt chart, Contingency and Change Control.

Female Entrepreneurs Mentoring Clinic Cork Chamber are delighted to welcome Paula Fitzsimons to speak at an event organised as part of the Chamber's Female Mentoring project. Paula will be addressing the issues around whether Irish women have untapped entrepreneurial potential, referencing the findings of the recent Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) 2011 report, and highlighting the supports available for female entrepreneurs through programmes such as Going for Growth. The event will also offer early-stage female entrepreneurs the opportunity to arrange a short one-to-one meeting with a mentor, in order to ask advice on a specific aspect of their business.
