Certification, Regulation and Licensing post-Brexit
 

Certificates, licences and authorisation's are required for trade in the EU for many types of goods such as medical devices and construction products, and for services such as in the transport sector.

 

If you rely on certificates, licences or authorisation's issued by UK bodies, these may no longer be valid in the EU post-Brexit.

 

To avoid disruption and delays, you will need ensure you are compliant with EU rules.

Certification, Regulation and Licensing post-Brexit

  • You need to check whether your current certifications, licences or authorisations will be valid post-Brexit. If you are a member of a professional body, they may be able to advise you further.
  • If you rely on UK Notified Bodies for conformity assessment and/or CE Marking, you will need to arrange to either transfer existing certificates, licences or authorisation's to an EU27 Notified Body or to obtain new ones altogether. You can check the EU Commission NANDO website for a list of designated EU Notified Bodies.
  • If you are in the building or hardware trade, check out the guidance from the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government on the regulation of construction products post-Brexit. The Department has also produced a leaflet for the industry on how it can prepare for a no deal.
  • The National Standards Authority of Ireland has prepared useful factsheets that you can consult for further information.

Cork Chamber Services:

Some countries request a Certificate of Origin with imports. This document proves the place of growth, production, or manufacture of goods.  Cork Chamber is officially authorised by the Department of Business, Enterprise and Innovation and Chambers Ireland to issue and certify export documentation.

We certify a range of documents for companies including: Certificates of Origin (EU Certs, Arab/Irish Certs), Invoices, Certificates of Analysis, Packing Slips, Certificates of Incorporation, Memorandum and Articles of Association, Company Reports etc.

Election 2020 Manifesto
 

Ahead of the General Election 2020 Cork Chamber has launched a manifesto, calling on the next government to prioritise:

  4. A Green Ireland
  5. An Attractive Business Environment
Public Consultation Waste Action Plan for a Circular Economy
 

The Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment is seeking views on the development of a new Waste Action Plan for Ireland as part of the move to a more Circular Economy.

 

This consultation will underpin the development of a new waste policy / circular economy plan.

 

Cork Chamber will make a submission to this consultation and welcome member comments for consideration as we develop a response.

Cork City Council’s Placemaking Fund
 

Following on from the successful pilot last year, Cork City Council is once again inviting proposals from city centre based community and business groups to this fund. It aims to support projects which enhance and enliven people experience of the city centre.
