The number of positive announcements from local employers in the first month of the year make a very promising start for Cork in 2016:

  • Fortuity – 10 new jobs
  • Netigate – 45 new jobs and new international headquarter
  • Styker – new Surgical Innovation Centre
  • New €5m investment in the Health Innovation Hub in UCC
  • Hortonwings – 50 new jobs and opening of new Cork premises
  • Amarenco – 10 new jobs and new Cork headquarter
  • Abtran – 130 new jobs
  • Pundit Arena -10 new jobs
  • Malwarebytes – 50 new jobs

With the election looming, Cork Chamber invites you to join us at our Town Hall Debate. 


During this debate, sitting  Ministers and TDs from Fine Gael, Labour, Fianna Fail, Sinn Fein will join declared candidates from the Green Party and the Anti-Austerity Alliance in responding to the key election issues affecting businesses as set out in Cork Chamber’s Election Manifesto.


Moderated by Newstalk’s Jonathan Healy, the debate will also provide attendees with the unique opportunity to raise questions, influence the future direction of business policies for Ireland and Cork, and directly engage with election candidates.

A Vision for 2021 - A Manifesto for Ireland’s Future from the Irish Chamber Network was launched today. The manifesto sets out the strategic priorities needed to deliver our vision for a thriving Irish economy and society in 2021. These priorities are set out in five categories: Supporting Irish Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, Supporting our People, Planning for Growth, Investing for our Future and Ireland in the Global Economy. This weekend sees key Business Leaders, heads of State Agencies, Ambassadors, as well as senior political figures, gather at City Hall to network and connect with their peers at the Cork Chamber Annual Dinner. 

The extensive set up required in City Hall’s Concert and Millennium Halls will begin today, as everything from audio visual equipment, staging through to forks and knives are delivered turning City Hall into a spectacular venue. Webinar: Introduction to IP

The European Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Helpdesk will host a free webinar entitled ‘An Introduction to IP’ on February 10th 2016. The webinar will provide participants with an introduction to basic concepts and definitions of Intellectual Property (IP) and IPR. Additionally, participants will be given an overview of existing practices and processes related to IP Management. The webinar will be delivered by Michele Dubbini and will consist of a 60 minute presentation, followed by a Q&A session, which will take approximately 15 minutes.

Learning Objectives:

  • After the training, participants should be able to answer the following main questions:
  • What is IP?
  • What are IPR?
  • Why should I deal with IP/IPR issues? Why should IP be an integral part of my business strategy? Which are the first steps to be taken?
  • Which IP protection tools exist/can I use (e.g. trademarks, patents etc.)?
  • Who are the organisations that can help me?
  • What do different IP titles cost?
  • How do I perform basic IP searches? Which tools exist?
  • What does counterfeiting mean?
  • How can IPR be enforced?
  • What are the basic mechanisms of making money with IP?

Innovative Enterprise: Financing Ideas from Europe 2016

The Hague, 31st March – 1st April 2016

The Innovative Enterprise: Financing Ideas from Europe 2016 Conference is being co-organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation and the Ministry of Economic Affairs in the Netherlands. The event will form part of the Horizon 2020 work programme ‘Access to Risk Finance’ and is associated with the Netherlands Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The event is aimed at innovative enterprises, financial intermediaries, policy makers, researchers and investors. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the various finance options that are available and in particular, there will be an opportunity to learn about InnovFin, the EU’s investment programme for innovation.

As part of the conference, the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) will organise an international matchmaking event for the Fintech sector on 1 April 2016. This add-on is aimed at giving attendees the opportunity to engage in 1:1 meetings with potential business or investment partners in person. For further information, contact Eimear.
