Cork’s Position as Ireland’s Second City Region and Driver of Growth Must be Recognised

Wow what a night at Cork Chamber's Dublin Dinner 2017. A packed house, a great buzz and fantastic speakers entertained 600 guests.
The main message of the evening was the importance of a strong second city region for national growth and within that context, Cork Chamber President, Bill O’Connell called on the government to recognise the position and ambition of Cork as Ireland’s second city and the driver of a thriving Southern region.
The evening began with a video showcasing Cork, if you have not already seen our Connecting Cork video, you can do so here. John Higgins, Partner at EY, sponsor of the event, then took to the stage, speaking about the global hunt for talent and the disruption to business from tech development.
Our keynote speaker, Minister Simon Coveney TD, delivered a powerful address on the importance of protecting Irish social, cultural and economic interests in Brexit negotiations. You can watch the Minister's full address on Periscope.
Closing the evening was the honouring of Linda and Dan Kiely with the Outstanding Achievement in Business Award 2017, that received not one but two standing ovations! Read more below.
