So what happens next? GDPR, 25 May, breakfast with EY
The GDPR applies directly across all 28 Member States from the 25th of May onwards.
On the day that GDPR comes into effect EY Cork is organising a breakfast briefing from 8.00 to 10.00 in EY's offices on Lapps Quay to take stock of where companies are right now on their compliance journey and to discuss what we should expect to see unfold in the months ahead. The Data Protection Authorities have made it clear that compliance is not a tick-box exercise and that the GDPR’s accountability principle means that ongoing compliance is required as an organisationally integrated process. During this interactive session we will discuss:
• EY’s view on where many organisation are at on their GDPR journey
• What to expect next in terms of regulatory activities and enforcement
• Key focus areas for organisations to achieve compliance, for example:
o Accountability: how to confirm ongoing compliance
o Marketing: what does the GDPR say and what is coming down the tracks?
o HR: Steps to take to make sure your HR department is compliant
o Technology: Key steps to take when adopting new technologies
• Why vendor management is critical and what to look out for next
• Next wave of privacy regulatory changes on the horizon e.g, ePrivacy Directive.
Ivan O’Brien, Partner and Head of Risk will chair the session |
