Our visit to Greenwich, Connecticut, one of the world’s leading centres for hedge funds and investment management, was a targeted engagement focused on positioning Cork as a destination of choice for international financial services.
Through our sponsorship of the Irish Funds Greenwich Seminar 2026, in partnership with Connecting Cork and the Cork Financial Services Forum, we engaged with a highly influential audience of global fund managers, asset managers and financial services leaders.
The seminar highlighted the long-standing and evolving relationship between Ireland and the US funds industry, with particular emphasis on Ireland’s position as the leading location for European (exchange trade funds) ETFs, accounting for approximately 75% of the market. Discussions reinforced the critical role US fund managers continue to play in the growth of Ireland’s financial services sector.
Key messages focused on Ireland’s, and Cork’s, competitive advantages, including a strong regulatory framework through the Central Bank of Ireland, access to a highly skilled talent pool, world-class education institutions, and a business-friendly environment that serves as a gateway to European markets.
This engagement provided a valuable platform to raise awareness of Cork’s growing financial services ecosystem and to build relationships with decision-makers considering European expansion.
