Approximately 140,000 Irish children live with disabilities. They should have opportunities to play with others, be physically active, learn, connect, and have fun. With the guidance of play researcher Alice Moore and colleagues from the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, UCC, Crann researched 200 families living with disabilities. In their research parents expressed the impact of not playing together as a family. They felt excluded from risky, unstructured, and social play, thus impacting their child’s wellbeing and development.

Their specific needs have influenced the design of the fully accessible playground Crann is building. Help bring this vision to life.

There is currently no legal obligation on employers to pay an employee who is absent due to illness. But this is about to change in January when new legislation is introduced.

The draft Statutory Sick Leave Bill 2021, published earlier this month, provides for a statutory entitlement to a minimum period of paid sick leave for all employees in the event that they fall ill or sustain an injury which prevents them from being able to work. Bus Connects Cork is the National Transport Authority’s plan to improve Bus Services throughout the Cork city and suburbs. Following an initial consultation in July 2021, a second Public Consultation on the Draft New Network is now underway.

Join online information events over the coming weeks at various times on 17, 24 November and 30 November to share your views on the amended bus network proposals and proposed bus routes in your areas. The new network will include benefits like; an increase of over one third in bus services in Cork; a new frequent network that paves the way for Luas; shorter waits and more direct routes and additional services at weekends. Closing date for the public consultation is the 10th of December 2021.

This includes filling out online workbooks, a filming assignment at the end of workshop 1, and a detailed editing demonstration.
