Keynote Speaker at Cork Chamber Annual Dinner
Sponsored by Kearys Motor Group

Cork born Philip King will give the keynote speech at this year’s Cork Chamber Annual Dinner, sponsored by Kearys Motor Group.

Philip is a curator and producer of bespoke cultural events. He is a film director, writer, musician, broadcaster, commentator and contributor to national and international forums on the role and contribution of culture and arts in a world where we are more connected and more isolated than ever before.

He has photographed every important Irish musician over the last 25 years both in Ireland, the UK and America. Other Voices, a music series for RTÉ Television, filmed in The Church of St James in Dingle, Kerry, was conceived and created by Philip King in 2002. The series provides a platform for Irish and international artists and has captured remarkable performances from Amy Winehouse, The National, Elbow, Glen Hansard, Snow Patrol, Ryan Adams, Florence and The Machine, Hozier, and many more.

Philip served for seven years on the Arts Council of Ireland. He was the curator of the inaugural ANAM arts and cultural festival at Dublin City University, where he is an adjunct professor at the University’s faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He was also confirmed with an Honorary Doctorate of Music from University College Cork in 2018.

Philip continues to tour with his band Scullion and presents a weekly radio show, South Wind Blows, from RTÉ studios in West Kerry.
