Transport for Cork City

Works have been undertaken at South Mall and works have commenced at Daunt Square, Castle Street and Liberty Street (with estimated duration of 2 weeks). These works are necessary to achieve the agreed flow changes on Castle Street. Works are also commenced on the route from Prospect Row along Glenville Place towards the Christy Ring Bridge and these will be a primary focus for the contractor. The primary works in these areas will take a number of weeks to complete and are necessary to support the routing of inbound flows towards the quays.

Works have also progressed on upgrading the public lighting on North Main Street with completion expected shortly.

Extended opening hours have been introduced at North Main Street Carpark as planned. The new opening hours are Mon – Sat (ex. Bank Holidays) 07.30 – 21.30 and Sun 11.30 – 21.30. Long term car parking opportunities for people working in the vicinity of the North Main Street Multi Storey Car Park are also being made available. Changes to the on-street parking regime have also been introduced to address the concerns of, and accommodate the needs of residents. These include a reduction in the pay parking period to one hour and extension of the pay parking requirements to 20.30 Mon – Sat.

Works on St Patrick’s Street are planned to commence in mid-June and will result in diversions for northbound traffic for a period of approximately 12 weeks.

Cork City Council has launched a dedicated website to keep City Centre residents and visitors advised of all localised lane/ traffic restrictions on an ongoing basis with information also being planned to inform via newsletters and street signage.

Members of the public can also register to get regular updates on traffic management on this and other projects online
