Chairperson of Cork Regional Chambers, Mr. Donal Kelleher welcomed the announcement that Aldi, has today opened its new regional distribution centre in Mitchelstown, creating 160 new jobs for the Cork region. Full story available here.

The Enterprise Europe Network is bringing you a four-part seminar series this autumn, outlining the numerous financial supports available to SMEs and how to access them. Cork Chamber will hold the September Business After Hours Event at the Port of Cork building on Custom House Quay on Tues 17th September.

The Port of Cork is the key seaport on the south of Ireland and acts as a major facilitator of both imports and export. Guest Speaker David Levin, is a UK based social media expert who has worked for some of the biggest names in UK entertainment, BBC One’s The Voice, Channel 4, Radio 1 and brands such as adidas, and O2 will be talking about how we should speak to our audience on Twitter and Facebook and what creative approaches can be used to get the most out of both platforms – as well as pitfalls to be avoided.  David first came to Ireland for CorkMeet in April and was one of the highlights of this event – so we have brought him back to expand on his presentation.

The event will be MC’d by Anton Savage and following David’s talk and Q&A session Anton will chair a discussion on the topic with a discussion panel including David and local social media experts from various business backgrounds.

CIT is delighted to invite you to attend a talk on US patent. Following on from last year’s very successful presentation on US patent legal cases, Gerard Reinhardt Esq has kindly offered to deliver a presentation on some of the more interesting US cases that have occurred in 2013.


Summaries on a sampling of prominent recent appellate decisions in US patent cases will be presented, including:

1)  Association for Molecular Pathology v. Myriad Genetics, Inc., (Sup. Ct., 2013), providing the last word in this protracted case on the patentability of DNA.

2) Akamai Technologies, Inc. v. Limelight Networks, Inc., Nos. 2009-1372, -1380, -1416, -1417, and McKesson Technologies, Inc. v. Epic Systems Corp., No. 2010-1291 (Fed. Cir. Aug. 31, 2012) (en banc), addressing the divided infringement of method claims.

3)  Medtronic Inc. v. Boston Scientific Corp., 695 F.3d 1266 (Fed. Cir. 2012), dealing with a patent licensee's burden of proof for declaratory judgment of noninfringement.

4) Teva Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc. v. Sandoz, Inc. (Fed. Cir. 2013), concerning the indefiniteness of quantitative claim limitations.

The Go-2-Tender programme is Ireland’s most successful and comprehensive tender training programme. Further to this a free half a day mentoring session is attached to this programme which can focus on any procurement issue you are interested in and the option exists to apply for an additional up to 3 days of mentoring which is free of charge.

 

 


The Go-2-Tender programme is Ireland’s most successful and comprehensive tender training programme. We are running a workshop in Cork on the Tuesday 17th September and Tuesday 24th September. Bid Management Services and Core Consulting will be delivering the workshop and there will be equal emphasis on tendering in ROI and NI.

Background of Go-2-Tender

This programme has been developed and run for InterTradeIreland by Bid Management Services and is specifically targeted to provide companies with the skills to successfully tender for Public Sector contracts. Participants have been incredibly successful following the programme and have won €50m of business following on from their participation on the course in recent times. For example last year’s attendees on the programme have secured in excess of €10m of contracts since participating in the Go2Tender programme.

 

It works by providing participants with two days of in class training followed by free mentoring from our expert tender specialists.

 

Programme Topics Covered Include:

  • How public sector bodies across the island buy their goods, services and works
  • How and where to source working opportunities
  • What the buyers are looking for
  • When to bid and not to bid
  • The tendering process
  • How to prepare the winning proposal

 

Mentoring Topics Include:

  • Sourcing and vetting of opportunities
  • Taking you through an actual live tender
  • Review of your past tenders and provision of a report
  • Development of a public sector market entry strategy

 

In addition, we have guest speakers from one or more central government procurement organisations across the island (CPD, eTenders etc).
