  Munster Rugby have teamed up with the Friends of Marymount for this year's Munster Rugby Awards in association with the Irish Independent. The awards take place at a lunchtime event on Thursday April 30th at Maryborough Hotel & Spa in Cork. Eleven diverse categories will be honoured, ranging from Munster Player and Young Player of the Year through to emerging Academy talent, Women's rugby, referees, schools and clubs.

  The sinking of the ship by a German U-Boat off the Old Head of Kinsale in May 1915 was an event that had profound repercussions, locally, nationally and internationally and was one of the principal factors that led to the eventual intervention of the USA in WW1 in 1917. The conference is free and all are welcome. Contact  organiser Gabriel Doherty, UCC School of History for more information. The conference is hosted in association with the Irish Examiner.
