Chambers Ireland Submission on the Role of Taxation in Encouraging Entrepreneurship
The Minister for Finance, is currently considering how the tax system affects entrepreneurship generally as well as reviewing the tax expenditures currently available to entrepreneurs. The purpose of the review is to assess what is and is not working effectively as well as considering options for change to better incentivise entrepreneurship. In light of this, the Department of Finance has launched a Public Consultation which explores the role of taxation in encouraging entrepreneurship. This document is available to read here.
Chambers Ireland will be making a submission on behalf of the Chamber Network and if you would like to contribute to this submission please send any feedback on the role of taxation in encouraging entrepreneurship to Claire before COB, Tuesday 7th July .
Local Economic and Community Plan Information Session
Cork County Council is currently developing the Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP). The purpose of the LECP, as provided for in the Local Government Reform Act 2014, is to set out, for a six-year period, the objectives and actions needed to promote and support the economic development and the local and community development of the County in partnership with economic and community development stakeholders in the region.
Public Consultation workshops and a call for written submission of which the Chamber will contribute to are currently taking place. To inform this submission Cork Chamber is organising an information session for interested Chamber members which will be delivered by Pio Condon, Senior Executive Planner, Cork County Council with Andrew Hind, Senior Planner, Cork County Council also in attendance.
This information session will take place at 10am on the 3rd of July at the Cork Chamber Office, Summerhill North and is expected to last approximately 1.5hrs. To register your interest in attending this presentation please email Claire

Two Carrigtwohill Gardens will open to the public on Independence Day July 4th from 10am-4pm to raise money for the Cork Association for Autism (CAA). The Sensory Garden at Greenville House will open to the public along with Noel O’Keeffes beautiful cottage garden which is situated on an acre of land. The CAA opened their very first service centre for adults with autism at Greenville House in Carrigtwohill in 1991. 14 clients now avail of residential care in Greenville which is based on a home away from home, home for life principle. Thanks to corporate funding they have developed a sensory garden at the centre to cater for the sensory needs of their clients. They welcome the public along to the official opening of these gardens on July 4th. The grounds of Greenville are beautifully kept by their horticulture team who also provide one on one therapies with clients. The team who work from a large glasshouse grow many exotic and specialised plants and will be selling plants and pottery pieces on the day which have been produced at the centre.
The event is being kindly sponsored by Response Group and Hurleys Midleton SuperValu. The event will be signposted from Carrigtwohill town and tickets can be purchased on the day at Greenville House for €8. Entry fee will include tea/coffee and light refreshments and entry to both gardens.

The Rising Tide, Glounthaune, Cork will host the Murphy's Cork Oyster Festival from Friday June 26th to Sunday June 28th 2015. The festival which is run in association with Murphy's Irish Stout is the 3rd of it's kind to take place at The Rising Tide.
The festival will begin on Friday 26th June 2015 at 6pm when the main marquee will open and the well known jazz band, The Clubmen, will kick off festivities. There will be an oyster tent and also a BBQ tent for the non seafood lovers.
At 7pm on Saturday 27th June, the Rising Tide will have a Food, Fashion & Beauty event in the main marquee. This event will begin with a Pimm's & Prosecco reception on the lawn. The head chef will will then serve a BBQ with delicious options to cater for all tastes. There will be make up, beauty tips and hair tips, followed by a fashion show with the team from Lockdown models. The DJ will be Stevie G from Corks Red FM. Tickets are limited for this event and are on sale now from The Rising Tide for €45.
On Sunday 28th June, we will continue festivities with live music in the main marquee, all day BBQ and oysters available. The festival marquee will open from 12.30pm. The playground adjacent to the restaurant will of course keep the little guests entertained, but the Rising Tide will also have children's entertainers on the day from 2pm-5pm. We will also be serving our Sunday lunch in the Rising Tide. We will have 2 sittings for lunch, 1pm and 3pm. Booking for dining is advised.
