City Council and Business Discuss Critical Need for Excellent Public Transport

Cork City Council's Director of Services for Roads and Transportation and Edith Roberts, Senior Engineer today presented members of Cork Chamber with details on the Cork City Centre Movement Strategy ahead of the reintroduction of bus prioritisation on Patrick St between 15.00-18.30 on August 9.

 

Attendees at the meeting in Republic of Work primarily included a mix of city centre businesses and large employers whose employees rely on public transport to get to and from work.

 

During the presentation, business representatives heard how Cork is set to grow rapidly in the short to medium term, with 5,000 extra jobs and another 1,000 hotel beds coming to the city centre over the next three years.

The EU has finalised negotiations with Japan for the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement, a new trade agreement which will remove regulatory barriers from exports to Japan from businesses exporting from the EU while establishing strong guarantees for the protection of EU standards and values across all EU-Japan trade.

Going Global With Air France

The French tricolour was last week flying over Summerhill North. Not only to celebrate the World Cup winners, but to welcome Air France’s team in Ireland to Cork to meet with members and share details about the new Cork – Paris Charles de Gaulle route launched in May.

 

The new daily service from Cork to Paris with Air France boosts the connectivity of Cork to other markets, including 11 locations in France, over 30 in the rest of Europe and 180 worldwide destinations with special deals available for SMEs and corporates.

 

The Paris service departs Cork Airport daily at 16.30. Further information available online.
