It was a privilege to welcome Cork's new Lord Mayor, Cllr Kieran McCarthy to Cork Chamber where he met with Chamber President Ronan Murray and CEO Conor Healy.

The Lord Mayor is no stranger to Fitzgerald House having written the 2019 book 'Championing Cork' which delves into the 200-year history of Cork Chamber of Commerce.

Issues pertinent to the future of Cork were top of the agenda.

Minister Eamon Ryan has published the All-Island Strategic Rail Review draft report, outlining a framework for the delivery of Ireland's rail network with 30 recommendations to decarbonise the network, increase connectivity between cities, in our regions and rural communities, enhance the sustainability of our cities, further develop the freight network, and enhance the customer experience.

The recently published Annual Report from the Workplace Relations Commission highlighted that the Inspection and Enforcement Services of the WRC conducted just under 4,000 employer inspections this past year and with that, found that 1,763 breaches of employment legislation took place. The significance of these breaches resulted in the recovery of just over €1.4 million in unpaid wages demonstrating the critical nature of maintaining compliant records and practices.
