A more inclusive and connected community is at the heart of a new initiative by Enable Ireland, with the development of the Mill View Adult Services Hub in Midleton. Designed to support people with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities, the hub will provide modern, accessible facilities that promote independence, participation and meaningful engagement in local life. This project reflects a growing focus on ensuring that individuals of all abilities can live, learn and thrive within their own communities across Cork.
First Fridays in the city continues this week, Friday 1st May, with a range of events happening across the city on Friday evening, from the First Friday Market on Cornmarket Street, to extended evening opening at Elizabeth Fort and Blackrock Castle Observatory. Paul Street Car Park is offering a special rate for the evening and events are also taking place at other venues around the city, including the Butter Museum and Nano Nagle Place.
Cork City Local Safety Plan 2026 - 2029 Public consultation open until 31st May
Cork City Council has launched a public consultation to inform the development of the first ever Cork City Local Safety Plan 2026 - 2029. Members of the public are invited to share their experiences, priorities and ideas on community safety to shape the final plan, which will be published later this year. Workshops will take place around the city over the coming weeks, alongside an online survey for members of the public:
